PESCO Solar Net Metering: Application Steps, Green Meter & Rules
By Editorial Team · Published August 29, 2026 · 8 min read
Given escalating electricity tariff slabs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, residential, commercial, and agricultural consumers are rapidly converting to solar energy with PESCO Net Metering to eliminate high grid electricity bills.
Key Eligibility Requirements:
- Must have an active Three-Phase (3-Phase) PESCO electricity connection in applicant's name.
- Solar inverter must be three-phase grid-tied and compliant with NEPRA Net Metering Regulations (UL 1741 / IEEE 1547 standards).
- Sanctioned solar generation capacity must not exceed 1.5 times the consumer's approved sanctioned load.
Billing & Credit Mechanism:
The bi-directional Green Meter records two values: Import (kWh drawn from grid) and Export (kWh supplied to grid). If Export exceeds Import, the surplus kilowatt-hours are credited to your account and carried forward to offset future billing cycles or paid out by PESCO at the prevailing NEPRA national average power purchase price.
